Sunday, Aug. 14, will be a very special day for Sister Carol Inkrott of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The event commemorates her - golden jubilee - 50th year as a sister of St. Francis of Tiffin, Ohio.
As pastoral leader of St. Mary's Catholic Church for the past 10 years, she says that the celebration enables her to reflect on how good God has been to her. "I'm a different person because of it," she reflected in an interview with The Icon earlier this week.
Rev. Lew VanderNaald, pastor of Bluffton Presbyterian Church, has retired from the ministry. His final sermon with the Bluffton congregation was Sunday, July 31.

The double duet, "Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn" (You true God and son of David), from Bach's Cantata 23 will be performed at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church Sunday, Aug. 14 at the 10:15 worship service.
The cantata is one of two pieces which Bach submitted for an audition to become cantor for St. Thomas' Church in Leipzig in 1723. The double duet consists of two oboe parts played along with two treble voices, plus a continuo.
Senior high youth of First Mennonite Church are collecting ink and toner cartridges for recycling at Cartridge World during the 2011-12 school yar.
For each ink jet cartridge turned in the youth receive $1. For each toner cartridge turned in the youth receive $3. Cartridges may be placed in a blue and yellow box outside the church office.
Bluffton junior high and high school youth are invited to an End of Summer Youth Blast Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Presbyterian Church on Main Street.
High school and junior high youth are invited to join in on pizza, games and a movie on the lawn. Cost is $2 per person or $5 for three or more youth from the same family. All high school youth (from youth entering sixth grade on up) are invited to this event, so tell all of your friends.
