Members of Bluffton First United Methodist Church will be volunteering for a local mission event at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, in Lima. They invite others from the community to participate.

The event will focus on a 10-block neighborhood in Lima near Faurot Park. After registration at 7:30 a.m. and a kick-off rally involving Bluffton First United Methodist Church's praise band, "Waiting on Our Souls," volunteers will depart for the work projects.

Two special services planned for Sunday, Sept. 26 at BlufftonPresbyterian Church.

The morning worship service at Bluffton Presbyterian Church will feature the youth of the congregation. The service begins at 10:15 a.m. at the church located at the corner of Main and Cherry Streets in Bluffton. The youth will serve as lay readers and provide special music.

Mission Sunday will be celebrated at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, on Sunday Sept. 26.

Gary Lupe will be the guest speaker during the Bible Class time beginning at 9:20 a.m. He will speak on the mission efforts in Apache land. Worship service times are 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Bluffton's next America Red Cross blood drive is from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 160 N. Spring St.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

Community meals at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center continue this fall. The next meal is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Center. The First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, will provide the meal.

The menu consists of Vegetable Stew, cornbread and honey, and ice cream for dessert. The meal is open to the public. Donations accepted go to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program's food pantry.

The community meal program is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association.

"Being A Man of the Hour," is the theme of an Apostolic Ministries, Inc., Farrell, Pa., Hungry for Holiness Men's Fellowship conference, held in Bluffton, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18, according to Mark Neddeau, pastor of the Shepherd's Flock Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Bluffton, who is hosting the event.

The conference will take place at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, in a service open to anyone. Pastor Neddeau will preach on Friday evening.
