The Bluffton University men's basketball team traveled to Kalamazoo, Mich., on Wednesday, Nov. 20, to take on the Kalamazoo College Hornets in a non-conference matchup. Unfortunately for the Beavers, they finished on the wrong end of a tight game that resulted in 71-67 loss. Bluffton dipped to 1-2 overall, while Kalamazoo improved to 2-2 overall on the season.

Last week 13 GROB Systems, Inc., apprentices graduated.
The apprentices became journeyperson Industrial Machinist System Technicians, following a four-year apprenticeship at GROB.
GROB works in partnership with Rhodes State College, Lima, in the program. Speaking at the Nov. 14 ceremony, Dr. Cynthia E. Spiers, RSC president, told the grads, “I’m proud of all of you. We are here to celebrate all of your achievements.”

Three Bluffton middle school artists are winners in this year’s Bluffton Lions Club peace poster contest. The artists were introduced at the Nov. 19 Lions Club meeting.

1st: Karlee Geesaman, daughter of Kyle and Mindy Geesaman
2nd: Noah Bricker, son of Tyler and Sara Bricker
3rd: Adie Hanefeld, daughter of William and Rebecca Hanefeld
Doris Jean Basinger, 83, died Nov. 20, 2019, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Doris was born Aug. 7, 1936, on the family farm near Bluffton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Minnie (Sprunger) Basinger, and an infant brother, Francis Jr.
