The Mt. Cory United Methodist Church has three free used Vacation Bible School kits available to give to a church or organization.

They include SonQuest Rain Forest, Mighty Fortress and SonRise National Park.  Serious enquirers may call Jean at 419-581-8500. Pictures are available upon request.

New village solicitor, several committee reports, $139,450 FFA grant

It will be a busy council meeting on Monday (tonight, Jan. 14), as the village governing body meets for the first time in 2019.

Among items on the agenda include the introduction of Elliott T. Werth, as the new village solicitor. He is with the Findlay law firm of Hackenberg, Beutler, Rasmussen and Feighner.

Several committee reports are on the agenda:

Amy Russell sings and Phil Schey accompanies her on keyboard during Friday's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. The performers entertained members during the breakfast portion of the meeting. Russell is a voice and piano instructor at Krysti's Music Studio. The studio is expanding in Ottawa, with a location there for music lessons this winter.

BFR's daddy-daughter dance tickets now on sale; next winter day camp is Jan. 21

Bluffton Family Recreation’s first-ever daddy and daughter takes place in early February and tickets are now on sale.

The dance starts at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at BFR. Ticket are $20 for members (2 tickets) and $40 for program participants (2 tickets). Additional tickets – if you have more than one daughter attending – are $5 each.

Next winter day camp Jan. 21
The next BFR “school day out camp” is approaching. It’s Monday, Jan. 21, on Martin Luther King Day. The next camp is Monday, Feb. 18, on Presidents’ Day.

Virginia M. Howell, 101, died Jan. 14, 2019, at The Heritage in Findlay. Virginia was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Mount Cory to the late Ferd and Marie (Duffey) Crow.  On Oct. 18, 1944, she married Howard Howell who preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1991.

Ralph Reichenbach, David Little and Larry Smucker became Bluffton Eagle Scouts in 1955.
