One more important step in creating a pathway for pedestrians and bikers is underway on Bentley Road this week. In May the road was widened between Augsburger and the bridge near Kibler. The next photo shows Bentley after grinding took place. The widening of the road is apparent in this photo. A pedestrian pathway will be located on the west side of Bentley once the project is completed.

Responding to Dick Boehr's July 31, 2018 letter to the Icon editor -

To begin, I would like to thank Mr. Boehr for his countless hours of time, energy, and enthusiasm he has dedicated to our community. 

Likewise, Sue Cramer deserves a big thank you for all her many efforts on behalf of our historically significant Shannon Cemetery. 

And Bernie Ludwig should be commended on making the Shannon Cemetery grounds look incredibly better than they have in a very long time.

Krysti's Music Studio is accepting students for the fall, according to Krysti Schey. More details are on the website. Krysti's phone is 419-233-5255. The studio is at 334 S. Main St., Bluffton.  Fall lessons begin on Monday, Aug. 27.

Mitch and Ann Kingsley of 313 Campus Drive were awarded the Garden of the Month for July 2018 by Bluffton in Bloom. 

The Kingsleys took a low lying area in their yard and created a beautiful and water absorbing rain garden. 

"We applaud them for their creative thinking in changing a problem into an asset," said Nancy Benroth, a Bluffton in Bloom committee member.

The Bluffton boys and girls golf teams are ready to kick off their season next week.  Senior Alivia Koenig will look to pickup where she left off after qualifying for the OHSAA District Tournament. The boys team will have a younger look as they look to replace now-graduated State Meet qualifier Aaron Belcher. 

Girls Outlook:

Ellie Hartzler participated in the Ohio State Fair clothing days this year.  Last year she won the Clock Award for Sew Fun when she sewed a skirt. 

This year she won Outstanding of the Day for the category Tops for Tweens.  Her grandmother, Marybeth Hartzler, is her coach.
