The Black Lab, 121 N. Main St., now has copies of the local photo history book, "The Bluffton We Never Knew."

The book includes nearly 170 photos with descriptions of Bluffton photos from 1861 to 1911.

In addition reprints of an early Bluffton post card, which is also the cover the the book, are available. Post cards are $1.50 each and books are $21.30, which includes sales tax.

The final Bluffton Family Recreation indoor winter soccer league team registration deadline is Friday, March 30, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

The league runs from April 8 to April 29 and is an adult-only league. The team fee is $360. Contact BFR at 419-358-4150 or register online at www.bfronline.com.

Tickets to the Bluffton Lions Club citizen of the year dinner are still available, according to Gene Long of the club.

A dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the third floor meeting room of Bluffton’s Town Hall.

Reservations are required by Sunday, April 8, and may be made by mailing payment of $17 per person to Bluffton Lions, Box 223, Bluffton or by calling Barbara Plaugher 419-204-2242 with payment guaranteed at the door.

Theme of Civic Engagement Forum

“Worthy of Honor” will be Dr. Jonathan Andreas’ topic for Bluffton University’s Civic Engagement Forum on Tuesday, April 10, in Yoder Recital Hall. His 11 a.m. presentation is free and open to the public.

They are turkey vultures—very important, graceful and clean wild residents in our northwest Ohio sky. Find out about these valuable helpers during “Discovery Stories: Turkey Vultures” at the Richard S. “Doc” Phillips Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve on Monday, April 2.

 Hancock Park District’s Katie Mehlow will read a story and play a game to see if you can smell as well as a vulture. 

Visitation Friday, funeral Saturday

Phyllis L. Adkins-Osborne, 84, died March 26, 2018, at Willow Ridge - Frieda House in Bluffton. Phyllis was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Solon and Minnie (Adkins) Reynolds who preceded her in death. She was married to Frank Osborne who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2008.

Phyllis received her bachelor's degree from Marshall University.  She was a home economics teacher at Bluffton High School for many years.  Phyllis was a member of Grace Mennonite Church in Pandora and enjoyed very much her home state of West Virginia.
