Louis P. Cira, a member of the Cory-Rawson FFA chapter in Rawson, Ohio, and a student at The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute, was awarded the American FFA Degree at the 94th National FFA Convention and Expo Oct. 27-30.

Each year, the National FFA Organization honors FFA members who show the utmost dedication to the organization through their desire to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

The Bluffton Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is holding a Thanksgiving pie fundraiser in partnership with The Dough Hook Meat Market, 117 N Main St. Orders will be taken from November 1-12 for eight pie selections: Apple, Cherry, Chocolate Cream, Mixed Berry, Peach, Peanut Butter Cream, Pumpkin, and Rhubarb.

The Bluffton High School boys cross country team will run on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park in the 93rd annual OHSAA cross country state championships.

The team is Landon Armstrong, Trey Boblitt, Isaiah Conley, Sam Derstine, Liam Jordan, Erik Nygaard, Jonah Rehm, and John-Paul Yoder. The coach is Bill Theisen.

Kathleen "Kay" Mikkelsen, 104, passed away on October 31, 2021, at 12:15
p.m., at Mennonite Memorial Home.

Kay was born July 3, 1917 in Bluffton, OH, to Chester and Mildred (Badertscher) Stauffer who both  preceded her in death. On February 3, 1973 she married Wilbur "Mike" Mikkelsen who preceded her in death on November 6,
2007.

A cool, dry and more colorful week lies ahead for Blufftonites. The National Weather Service predicts a high of 50 F and a low of 29 F for the work week Nov. 1-5.
