A Facebook viewer recently asked the Swiss Community Historical Society (SwissHistorical.org) for information on Bluffton's original Cherry Street Bridge.

Another viewer responded with these dates: The original bridge was built c. 1890 by the Canton Bridge Co.; rehabilitated in 1982; and replaced in 2004.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) is reopening its Findlay COVID-19 testing center, 1900 South Main Street, Findlay, in response to the region’s rising COVID-19 cases. 

If patients are symptomatic, they will need to schedule an appointment with their primary care provider (PCP). A PCP will determine if a COVID-19 test is needed and will place an order for testing at Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH). Appointments are required. The drive-through testing site is open from Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. 

Rehearsals for Bluffton University’s 126th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” will begin Sept. 28. Anyone interested in singing is invited to join the chorus, Contact Dr. Kang at [email protected] or the music department office at 419-358-3347.

The visiting Bluffton girls tennis lost to Bath 4-1 Wednesday evening.

The Lady Pirate netters dropped to 3-8 with the defeat. The hosts improved to 7-5 with the win.

Bluffton sophomores Alyssa Hoffman and Leah Klingler teamed up to post the Pirate win at second doubles. 

The duo rallied to win 4-6, 7-6 and 10-8 in a decisive third-set tiebreaker.

Bath won each of the other four matches in straight sets.

The Pirate girls host St. Marys (5-6) Monday, September 20, and then entertain Van Wert (5-6) September 21.
