Marvin M. Millay, 80, formerly of Independence, KY, passed away May 15, 2022, at 2:25 a.m., under hospice care. 

Marvin was born July 27, 1941 in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Chester and Virginia (Caine) Millay Sr.. On January 30, 1981 he married Lynnita (Swank) Millay who preceded him in death on May 14, 2015. 

Marvin was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Covington, KY. He started his career working for American Optical in Cincinnati, Ohio; from there he became one of the first employees of LensCrafters, working his way up to Lab Director.

Bluffton High School has announced that the Wednesday sectional baseball game has been postponed until Thursday, May 19.

Tickets purchased for May 18 will be good on May 19.

When you walk by Bluffton Middle School, take a closer look at new plantings near Jackson St. and Franklin St. You'll see memorial plaques for Ethan Leiber and Briana Schmidt.

E-sports report from Nick Rackley; list of 2022 graduates approved

The Bluffton Board of Education met on Monday May 16 to receive financial and administrative reports, approve treasurer’s transactions, agreements, and contracts.

VISITORS

During the visitors segment, Bluffton High School teacher Nick Rackley reported on the E-sports program which now has 20-40 participants per semester. Bluffton is one of the “alpha originals” in the league, according to Rackley. Four students have received E-sports scholarships to colleges and universities.

The following Bluffton residents received their Associate degrees from Rhodes State College following spring semester 2022.

The Bluffton University baseball team saw two players earn First Team All-Heartland Conference honors for the first time since 2018. Graduate senior Garrett O'Reilly (Galena/Orange) and junior Jake Baumgartner (Toledo/Start) were both named to the top team, while freshman Andrew Collinsworth (Westerville/Westerville South) collected honorable mention recognition for 2022.
