Electric yard sign now in place • gazebo will be installed in May

Bluffton Presbyterian Church has installed a new electronic yard sign for the purpose of connecting with and encouraging the local community, according to Rev. Karol  Farris Schilling, pastor.

"Both church and community messages will be displayed on the sign," she said.

 A policy is in place for community requests. Non-profit and public organizations may fill out an application to be considered for a display in the message rotation at no cost. The form will be made available at www.blufftonpc.org.

Bluffton enjoys 49-14 romp at Manchester

The Bluffton University football team opened up its Heartland Conference spring slate at Manchester on Saturday.

And, 35 points in the first half was the key to the Beavers' emphatic 49-14 victory over the Spartans. Bluffton improved to 2-0 (1-0 HCAC) on the season, while Manchester fell to 0-3.

After the birth of a precious newborn, there are a few choices that parents make that can be a matter of life and death. One of the most important recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC is the one-time injection of Vitamin K. This vitamin shot prevents bleeding in the brain, which can cause permanent disability and death.  

Both BFR youth programs begin later this month

Bluffton Family Recreation announces its spring sports sign up for flag football and U6 soccer, according to Amy Byers, BFR sports director.

U6 soccer takes place from Tuesday, March 23, through Thursday, April 22. Flag football takes place from Saturday, March 27, to Saturday, April 24.

Bluffton Girl Scouts are now selling Girl Scout cookies.

This week you can find them on sale from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 5, in front of Reichenbach and Steiner CPA, 140 N. Main St.

On Saturday, March 6, from there will be a booth outside Lulu’s Diner, 114 E. College Ave., from 10 a.m. to noon.

Local troop leaders are Gail Clingerman, high school troop; Kelly Honse, 4th and 7th grade troop; Teresa Brown, 8th grade troop; Whitney Utendorf,1st,  2nd and 4th grade troops.
