Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members are meeting at 7:30 a.m. on October 8 at Bluffton Flying Service/Bluffton Airport, 8010 Navajo Dr.

The meeting sponsor and door prize provider is The Neighborhood Cleaners, now located at Boutique 415. 

Derek Dukes, board member and co-owner of Southgate Lanes Inc. will be the emcee.

Nick Vance of Bluffton Flying Service will provide the program, an update on airport facilities and services.

October 9 is October Big Day, the first day of the international effort known as Global Bird Weekend. Join birders Deb Weston and David Smith at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm for a 10 a.m. hike to record the species that you see in the nature preserve.

The complete list will be submitted to ebird.org to join the global team and help set a new record for birding.

Participants are asked to meet at 9:50 a.m. outside The Quarry Farm’s Seitz Family Pavilion, 1/8 mile north of 14321 Road 7L, Pandora. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

Local historian Fred Steiner reveals how Bluffton's Main Street has changed, and how it has stayed the same, since 1950. The tours were coordinated by the Bluffton Public Library.

Bluffton schools are on a three-hour delay this morning, Tuesday, October 5.

October 8, Varsity Football Allen East vs. Bluffton. Senior Night. Gates open at 6 p.m. Kick-off at 7 p.m. No tickets sold at the gate. 

Tickets must be purchased online. Allen East will be using Hometown ONLINE ticketing for all home games this school year. All (adult/student) Varsity Football are $7 each (+online fee).

On Friday afternoon, Oct. 1, the Beavers cross country team didn't have to travel far from home to race at the Seneca East Golf Course in Tiffin for the 2021 Tiffelberg Open. The flat course made for a fast race and impressive times.

The meet was kicked off with the Men's 8k competition on Friday. Leading the Beavers was sophomore Alex Montross (Perrysburg) in 37th place with a time of 28:48, followed by freshman Cole Kropka (New London) in 29:48 and freshman Braeden Horn (Galion) with a time of 30:20.
