The Bluffton University men's basketball team dropped a 69-49 decision to Hanover in the semifinals of the Heartland Conference Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23.

Top seed and host Hanover College played the Transylvania-Franklin winner for the HCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tourney on Sunday.

Bluffton wrapped up its season with a school-record tying 18-9 mark, while the Panthers improved to 20-6 on the season.

March 4 and March 18 at Bluffton Senior Citizens Center

Two Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) classes are set for March at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. Thoses classes follow:

Monday, March 4, 10 a.m. – Corwin Croy presents “Biking from Bridge to Bridge.” He has biked from a 100-year-old bridge in New Bremen to a similar one near Pandora. His talk includes history, travel and adventures in biking.

Monday, March 18, 10 a.m. – Bruce Chesser presents a pottery demonstration. He brings a potter’s wheel and shows how to throw a pot..

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s will be partnering with OhioMeansJobs to host a Career Fair on Friday, March 1,  from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 718 W. Market St., Lima.

We are looking to hire in the following areas: Environmental Services, Patient Transport, Nutrition Services, New Vision Medical Laboratory, and LACP mobile transport 

Mercy Health would like job seekers to come with resume and interview ready. Computers will be available to apply on-site. OhioMeansJobs is helping to coordinate and assist job seekers.

Here is the list of arts and events at Bluffton University during March. Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

March 3 Event: "Conscience, Scripture and Patriotism: The Church of the Brethren and the Crisis of the Great War" by William Kostlevy, Brethren Historical Library and Archives, 4 p.m., Kreider Room, Marbeck Center. 

March 10 Event: "'We Are Still Compelled': Artifacts of Bluffton's World War I Experience, Carrie Phillips, Bluffton University archives, 4 p.m., Kreider Room, Marbeck Center.

Sunday's winds were not kind to Bluffton. One of the stately pine trees in the Bluffton Presbyterian yard - always lit for the Blaze - was downed by the wind. It’s tax time again. Here is information concerning filings of 2018 Village of Bluffton income tax returns, provided by the village tax administrator.

New this year
If you owe more than $200 in income tax to the Village of Bluffton at the time of filing your 2018 return, you are required by law to make Estimated Tax payments towards your 2019 return.
