Bluffton Family Recreation now has two certified TRX Sports Medicine trainers, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
The two, Jamie Nygaard and Britny Zwiebel, advanced from their previous TRX qualifications to the trainer level with classwork taken this summer.
BFR offers TRX classes Mondays through Fridays at 5:30 a.m. and also weekday evenings.
In mid-August BFR opened its Mercy Health Fitness Studio in the former mezzanine area overlooking the indoor soccer court. TRX classes are held in the studio.
Dr. Jane Wood, Bluffton University president, shared a vision for the university’s future and told about graduate success during her address at Monday’s Lima Rotary Club meeting at the Civic Center.
Focusing on three “momentum makers,” Dr. Wood shared areas involving academics, student engagement and athletics with the Lima audience.
“Over the next 12 to 18 months we will highlight these three areas as what we believe makes us stand out,” she said, based upon a summer planning retreat with the university cabinet.
Veterans circle at Maple Grove Cemetery is in the midst of a renovation this fall. On Monday Stratton Greenhouses planted six Skyrocket junipers and two Bobo hydrangea bushes. Next spring the memorial will be powerwashed. Bluffton American Legion Post 382 oversees the project.
Bluffton Cultural Affairs invites volunteers to help set up the Ream holiday folk art display.
Set up is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn, according to Lynda Best.
"Things to bring include sledges hammers and drills. It is always a job and even if people can only help a hour or so it would be appreciated so we can continue this tradition," she said.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School will host a Trunk-or-Treat event in the church/school parking lots, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, from 5:30 –7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The event will have crafts, games and people handing out goodies from decorated car trunks, all of which are free. Hot dogs, hamburgers and other food items will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome.
