SHANNON Service Club and Senior Center have big plans

S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club and the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center launch the 2018 Bluffton garage sale season in early March. There's even a chicken barbecue tossed in.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s basketball team welcomed back alumni today as they took to Copeland Court for a matchup against HCAC-leading Rose-Hulman. The Beavers dropped a heartbreaker in overtime (83-75). Bluffton stands 9-12 overall (6-8 HCAC), while Rose Hulman improved to 14-7 on the season (12-2 HCAC).

January was a month of temperature extremes, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

The high temperature was 58 degrees on Jan. 11. The low reading was -12 on Jan. 2.

The January 2018 average temperature, however, was on target at 25.0 degrees while the normal January average is 25.4 degrees.

Precipitation was measured at 7.5 inches for snow and 1.69 inches of rain.  Normal average precipitation for January is 2.26 inches.

Sophomore Jared Piercefield scored 17 points as the Bluffton boys basketball team pulled away from Allen East Friday night for a 49-30 Northwest Conference victory.  The win improves the Pirates to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in league play.  Bluffton led the entire game and pulled away in the fourth quarter for the win. Bluffton jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter then fought off a physical Allen East squad to earn a 58-47 road conference win.  Three Pirates scored in double figures led by Alivia Koenig with 16.  Averey Rumer added 12 and Libby Schaadt 11.  Bluffton improved to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in league play.
