All Bluffton Icon News

Is this Bluffton? Yes. It's one of the earliest Main Street photos - possibily as early as 1880.

It's Main Street looking north from the location of today's Chase. The west side of Main includes, from left to right:

First block

• A sign reading "Cash your hides"
• Beer Saloon
• Amstutz and Bixel Co.
• Russell Hotel

Second block
• 101 N. Main Street

You'll find LULUS 1 on a bright red Dodge truck, usually parked at Lu Lu's Diner, 114 E. College Ave., Bluffton.

All the Christmas music you want to hear

It’s Christmas concert time at Bluffton schools.

On Monday three concerts take place. Here’s the schedule:

• 1:30 p.m. – Elementary Christmas concert
This concert features Kindergarteners through fifth graders. Selections will be by each grade and will also include a mass choir of all elementary singers. This concert is in the high school gymnasium.

Rather than acting on a 12-month appropriations ordinance

Bluffton council taking a cue from the federal government and, rather than passing a 2018 appropriations, will act on Monday for legislation covering three months of 2018.

Council held a special meeting on Dec. 4 for the purpose of finalizing the 2018 appropriations. The special meeting started at 7 p.m.  Council entered executive session at 8:45 p.m. to discuss personnel wages. Roger Warren moved and Ralph Miller seconded the motion.

At 9:15 p.m., council exited the closed-door session and returned to regular session.

It's possible that more Christmas trees exist in Bluffton's downtown than in any other small town in northwestern Ohio. Here's the tree in the window of Edward Jones office on South Main Street.
