Yes, Bluffton loves a parade. This year's Blaze of Lights parade on Nov. 24 is one of the favorites. This year's parade, with temperatures hovering in the high 40s, drew an exceptionally large crowd.

Bill and Phyllis Marchal, owners of Bluffton Dari Freeze, were this year's parade grand marshals. Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University, was this year's switch-hitter, turning on the Ream lights.

But, the Blaze is more than just a one-night stand. It continues through new year's and includes the Ream holiday folk art display on the Presbyterian Church lawn and the gift of giving light show extravaganza across from Harmon Field.

There are lots of additional pieces to the month-long celebration.Those pieces include taking a walk down Main Street's retail section to window shop after hours. The village residential light contest, with judging next week, provides an extra reason to cruise town.

It take teamwork
The Blaze of Lights is a tradition that is 32 years in the making. It is the work of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Village of Bluffton, and countless volunteers. In 2018, the Blaze is made possible by donations from more than 25 sponsors, as well as the assistance of local organizations and individuals.
