Bluffton University student among recipients

Fifteen non-traditional students will be awarded Lima Rotary Club Certificates acknowledging their scholarship awards for fall 2018 classes. Presentations will be made on Monday, Aug. 27. 

Students are pursuing higher education in Radiographic Imaging, Paralegal, Registered Nursing, Licensed Practical Nursing, Elementary Education and Middle Childhood Education, AS Graphic Design/Web Page Development, BS in Health Care Administration, AA in Medical Office Management, BS in English,  Math Education, BS in Music and Business Management.  

The Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., will host a toy car show during the Bluffton Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

The Senior Center invites collectors young and old, who collect Matchbox, Hot Wheels or other toy cars to display during the festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show will be free and open to the public. There is no cost to display the toy cars.

"There will also be a rug weaving demo and 15% off all rugs at the Senior Center during the festival," said Meyer.

(BLUFFTON) - Ottawa-Glandorf defeated Bluffton 3-2 in girls soccer action Wednesday evening.  Kayla White scored both goals for Bluffton. Riley Busch made 13 saves in goal. The Pirates are now 0-1-1 on the season.

BHS will run the flexbone triple option

The Bluffton High School football team will be on the hunt for their first winning season since 2015 when they take the field Friday August 24 at Cory-Rawson.  The Pirates finished 4-6 last season including a dramatic road win over Columbus Grove in the season finale.

Mary Ann Sullivan, professor emerita Bluffton University, 77, died on Aug. 22, 2018, at her home in Lima, Ohio.

Mary Ann was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 30, 1941, to Raymond W. Miller and Martha Mildred (Cordray) Miller, who preceded her in death.  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill Sullivan, and by her brother, Douglas Miller of Omaha, Nebraska.

Members rank high at Allen County Fair and Ohio State Fair
