Andrew Steingass, potter, work featured at Gallery 323

Andrew Steingass of rural Ada is this month’s featured artist at Gallery 323, Bluffton. Steingass recently began showing pieces at the gallery, located at 323 N. Main St.

What follows is a portion of a feature story on Steingass by Monty Siekerman posted last year on Ada Icon.

He talks about grog, slip, and recipes. He burns wood at 2,350 degrees...even in the summer.

That's Andrew (Andy) Steingass, a lifelong resident of Ada, and a ceramicist.

Pleasant View United Methodist Church and Mt. Cory United Methodist Church host two events this month.

Pleasant View United Methodist Church will host a soup luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Proceeds will benefit 10-year-old Owen Weaver of Bluffton. The church is located at 300 Twp. Rd. 37, Bluffton.

Mt. Cory United Methodist Church will host its annual fall festival and chicken barbecue Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4-11 p.m. at Bethel Family Life Center, 201 W. Washington St., Mt. Cory. 

Oct. 23 presentation by Dr. C. Arnold Snyder

Dr. C. Arnold Snyder, professor emeritus of history at Conrad Grebel University, will present “Hiding in Plain Sight: Swiss Anabaptism in the Later 16th Century” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23 in Bluffton University’s Kreider Room of Marbeck Center and “Toleration in the Reformation: Historical Reflections for Today,” at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24 in Yoder Recital Hall.

Pumpkin Painting, a children’s art lesson led by Janette Reineke, is on Thurs, Oct 19 at 3:30 p.m.

Children ages 7-11 will have the opportunity to paint styrofoam 3-D pumpkins.

Advance registration is required, as space is limited, and the cost is $6 at the door (cash only please).
