The 2017 annual meeting of the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership (BRWP)is Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Hancock County Agriculture Center on CR 140 in Findlay.
The meeting will start at 7 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. The program starts at 7:30 a.m. Updates and review of the work of the BRWP in 2017 will be presented.
The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm, Pandora, is holding the annual Quarry Farm 5K Run/Walk event on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. Check-in is from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The race will be held rain or shine.
Bridge Bereavement Services will offer a presentation to address the myths associated with grief on Monday, October 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 South Main Street, Findlay. The presentation is free, open to the public and registration is not required.
This presentation will focus on dispelling the many myths and misconceptions of grief such as “grief gets better the second year” and “grief will progress in predictable stages.”
Michael Hensley has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of the Allen County Council On Aging, effective Oct. 10. He He will work with retiring Executive Director Diane Bishop until her retirement, effective late December, 2017.
Hensley brings a great deal of experience to the Allen County Council on Aging. He has most recently been the Auglaize County Administrator and before that he worked with the Children Service’s Board of Allen County and also the Allen County Juvenile Court.
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team went to Cincinnati on Wednesday night and survived a thrilling five-set slugfest with Mount St. Joseph on October 4, 2017. The Beavers improved to 10-9 overall and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference thanks to the victory (21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13). MSJ fell to 11-8 and 1-1 in the HCAC.
Rival Defiance College proved to be the perfect elixir for a Bluffton University women's soccer team that was looking for its first Heartland Conference victory since 2015. The Beavers nearly capped off the shutout, downing Defiance 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Sears Complex. Bluffton improved to 2-8 overall and 1-1 in the HCAC, while Defiance slipped to 1-8 and 0-2 in the conference.
