At Friday's football game between Bluffton HS and Crestview student sections from both schools participated in the OHSAA initiative #helpinghouston."The student sections both wore white, donate t-shirts for hurricane victims, a portion of the 50/50 went to the Red Cross hurricane relief, and Crestview's Student Senate brought $800 to donate to the Red Cross," said Alex Hanna, BHS athletic director. Participants should meet BPL's Public Services Coordinator, Lauren, at the Hayes library, which is inside the Hayes museum's building; transportation is not provided. The library tour and presentation will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m., but anyone wanting to tour the museum or Hayes residence may do so on their own before or after the library tour.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team took down a talented Trine University squad in three sets on day one of the Bluffton Fall Classic. The home team evened its record at 5-5, snapping a four-match skid in the process. Trine slipped to 4-4 after falling in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-20).

Our shy Scoreboard model tells us that this is a great time to stock up on Pirate paraphernalia. BHS homecoming is next weekend. According to Natalie Mueller of The Scoreboard, this year's popular item is the Pirate emoji tee-shirt. There's lots of other items at The Scoreboard, as our model holds a noise maker pom pom, a Pirate football and a Pirate bucket cap.

If so, Janette Reineke offers assistance with her “Fear No Art” lesson. It’s at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Bluffton Public Library.

The retired Bluffton art teacher will lead a lesson from her book “Fear No Art! The Sept. 28 class features a Georgia O’Keefe flower-painting project for participants.

Of top regional colleges by “U.S. News & World Report”

Bluffton University gains two spots in the top tier of Midwest “regional colleges” in the “U.S. News & World Report” rankings released today.
 
The 2018 edition of the magazine’s “Best Colleges” guidebook ranks Bluffton 27 among 80 comparable institutions in 12 Midwest states. Last year, Bluffton was ranked 29 of 79 comparable institutions. Now listed in the U.S. News rankings for 20 consecutive years, Bluffton has consistently been ranked in the top tier of Midwest colleges.
