It was our 4th annual National Night Out at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool on Aug. 1.

Were there more than 2,500 who attended? Probably.

Says Cindy Luginbuhl, Rodan+Fields independent consultant

From time to time, the Icon features stories on its advertisers. We recently had a chat with Cindy Luginbuhl, who has a Business Card on the Icon. Here’s what we learned about Rodan+Fields.

Cindy Luginbuhl says that she’s always enjoyed helping people.

Five years ago, her then-high-school-age daughter developed a case of acne. Cindy started her on a Rodan+Fields skin care product. The results sold Cindy on the product and she eventually became an independent consultant for the company.

Victim accused of tax fraud

FROM THE ALLEN COUNTY SHERIFF - The Allen County Sheriff’s Office has an open investigation regarding a scam that occurred in Beaverdam.

The victim reported she was contacted by someone using the phone number 202-455-5956 who claimed to be from the Legal Affairs Department and accused her of tax fraud.

The victim reported she told the caller she had not received any paperwork regarding this.  A short time later and while still speaking with the man on the phone there was a knock on her door.

Sundown is upon us and a slow freight train is trotting on the rails through Bluffton on a hot summer evening. The local freight will return on its round trip at about 10 p.m.

Stop in behind Greg's and meet our super hero

Greg’s Pharmacy is throwing a party for Bluffton’s small-town hero Owen Weaver and you are invited.

The event is from noon to 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, in the village parking lot behind Greg’s. The Weaver family will attend from noon to 1:30 p.m.

This summer marked the success of a GoFundMe drive that generated enough money to purchase a new van for the Weaver family.

It allows Owen to more easily go to doctor appointments at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, and to local activities.

Sometimes you win - this is one of those times
