Heavy agenda includes updates on several on-going village projects

Bluffton council has a heavy agenda on Monday.

Among agenda items include:
• Meeting the new village administrator
• Update on West Elm Street water line
• Update on Dominion gas line replacement on College Avenue
• Discussion of signage on I-75 overpass
• Alley that’s not an alley south of Mustard Seed Café explanation
• Augsburger Road lighting project
• Amstutz Drainage Group discussion
• Tax Incentive Review Council
• America in Bloom visit in July

Taught business and accounting and later served as vice president for fiscal affairs

Willis John Sommer, 71, died June 23, 2017, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.  Willis was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Gridley, Illinois, to the late Willis and Aldine (Oyer) Sommer.  On May 22, 1976, he married Betty Detwiler Sommer who survives. 

Willis graduated from Gridley High School in Gridley, Illinois, and then received his degree in Business Administration from Bluffton College and later his Master's degree from Ohio University.

Swiss Day brings out the best in local heritage

Wie gehts! or Vie gehts, or "how goes it?"

The Swiss Community Historical Society’s annual Swiss Day is Sunday, June 25, according to Gary Wetherill, president of the society.

This year’s event includes:
• 12:30 p.m. potluck at Ebenezer Mennonite Church
• 2:30 p.m. program – “Letters from the Swiss Settlement 1840-1860.”
• Following the program – Schumacher homestead open house

His project will benefit Putnam County Habitat for Humanity - and you can vote to support it

 Daryl Bridenbach, Pandora farmer, is a national finalist in a John Deere contest that may result in benefiting Putnam County Habitat for Humanity.

To win Bridenbaugh must receive the most votes for his project in an online
contest. Area residents may go to www.deere.com/impact to vote. You can vote
for Bridenbaugh’s project daily through July 5.

Bridenbaugh is one of three finalists for John Deere’s ‘Small Machines, Big Impact’ contest.
