It's summer in Bluffton and the petunias are blooming on Main Street. The annual project spearheaded by Stratton Greenhouses is part of a downtown beautification program by the greenhouse. Each of the pots has a sponsor and the sponsor is listed on the pot.

Dr. James Alan Gideon, M.D, Bluffton rheumatology and internal medicine physician, whose office is at 132 Garau St., has been suspended from medical practice and surgery after he admitted to sexual misconduct with patients.

The State Medical Board of Ohio has banned him from medical and surgery practice until it holds a hearing on his case. No hearing date has been set.

The suspension follows a June 14 board meeting where members determined that Dr. Gideon had violated a section of the Ohio Administrative Code.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said the deaths of a male and female in a rural Ada house Monday night appear be drug related. The bodies have been sent to Lucas County for autopsy.

The deaths were not the result of violent crime, the sheriff’s office said.

Linda J. Wynkoop, 69, died June 21, 2017, at 8:40 p.m. at her residence. Linda was born Feb. 5, 1948 in Bluffton, Ohio, to Paul and Helen (Hartman) Rankin who preceded her in death. On Jan. 14, 1966, she married Dennis Wynkoop who survives.

Linda was a homemaker and enjoyed art and painting. 

Survivors also include a son, Lewis (Jesse Johnson) Wynkoop of Findlay; three grandchildren; and a sister, Rita (Bill) McVetta of Mt. Cory. 

There will be no service or visitation per Linda's wishes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice.

Colten Lee Abbey, 15, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 4:24 a.m. at his residence.

He was born on Feb. 11, 2002, in Lima, Ohio to Mike and Jessy (Reffitt) Abbey and they survive in Harrod.

Colten was a freshman at Allen East High School, where he was a member of the football team, track team, wrestling team and a member of the student council. He was a member of the Harrod Christian Church. Colten was a member of the Harrod Christian Youth Group. He was a member of the Auglaize Ag 4-H Club.
