"The Bluffton You Never Knew" now on sale in downtown stores

A book signing with Fred Steiner, author of the newly released book “The Bluffton We Never Knew,” takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St.

“The Bluffton We Never Knew,” includes photographs from our first half century, 1861 to 1911. The book, with 106 pages, includes nearly 170 black and white photographs of Bluffton.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women’s basketball squad welcomed the Earlham College Quakers for a fierce conference battle on a cold and snowy Wednesday, Jan. 24. Turnovers were the major factor as Bluffton’s tenacious defense helped pave the way for a 58-39 victory. The win pushed the Beavers to 13-5 (8-3 HCAC) on the season, while Earlham dipped to 3-15, 3-8 HCAC.

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University men hit the road to face off against the Earlham College Quakers on Wednesday, Jan. 24. After a solid first half, the Beavers struggled to knock shots down in the second stanza as they fell to the Quakers, 76-63, to drop to 8-10 (5-6 HCAC) on the season.

"The Bluffton We Never Knew," a photo history book covering Bluffton's first half century, 1861 to 1911, will be on sale in several Bluffton businesses on Thursday. The 106-page book includes over 70 photos with descriptions. The book sells for $19.95 plus tax. The Bluffton Icon created the book. Watch for more details coming.

Bluffton council schedules six meeting this week and next

Bluffton council committee meetings are lining up like jets ready to take off at the airport – as the new year begins.

Here’s the schedule and discussion point of each meeting:
(All meeting are in the town hall)

• Wednesday, Jan. 24 – Safety services, fire and EMS, 4:30 p.m.
Discussion: Purchase of new ambulance; also grant on workers’ compensation.

The Winter Book Games reading program for children, teens, and adults continues in February and March. Pick up a Winter Book Games Bingo card at the library or download and print it from our website. Then, read five or more books during the months of January through March to receive a bingo and a completion prize. At this time, you may also enter a drawing to win a larger prize.
