Phil Sugden, assistant professor of art at Bluffton University, will present the Colloquium “Activismo: Art & Dissidence in Cuba” at 4 p.m. on April 7 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. It is free and open to the public.
In December 2015, Sugden and Carole Elchert, assistant professor communication at the University of Findlay, traveled to Havana, Cuba, to interview artists and gather footage for the film. The documentary focuses on six of Cuba's prominent artists and explores the role of art as a form of activism or dissidence.
Various Bluffton University musical ensembles will come together Friday, April 7, to present the annual Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The Bluffton University Concert Band will perform various selections including a wind band transcription of “Buckaroo Holiday,” music from Aaron Copeland’s ballet “Rodeo.” The band will be led by Dr. Roy Couch and senior music education major Aaron Johnson of Goshen, Ind.
Today I walked a partial stretch of the Augsburger Bike Path, picking up trash. In the walk I picked up a plastic bag having dog poop in it, tossed a ways into the woods.
My message is: dog walkers we are glad they like the path, but please mind your manners when it comes to carrying your dog's "stuff" to the nearest trash can. We live here!
The Pandora area churches inviter singers to participate in a community choir for the Pandora Community Good Friday Services on April 14 hosted at the Pandora United Methodist Church.
The community choir will rehearse at the Pandora United Methodist Church on:

• Wednesday, April 12, 7 p.m.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office has reported that two people, including a Bluffton man and his cousin, died from gunshot wounds on Monday evening, March 21.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Ashley M. Sayarath, 19, died from two gunshot wounds, according to a press release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said David Sayarath, 30, of Bluffton, and the cousin of Ashley, apparently shot Ashley at 605 Palm Drive, Liberty Township, before turning the gun on himself and dying.
