Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs has awarded over $60,000 in prize money since inception

Five businesses are winners in this year’s Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur’s Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition.

Awards were presented March 21 in BCE open house in the Bluffton town hall. This is the 9th annual competition, according to Brendon Matthews, BCE board president.

Emerging business division winners

First place - Cutting Edge Woodcraft, Bluffton, owned by Nicholas Recker and Luke Keuneke, $4,000

Second place – Art Me!, Ottawa, owned by Kirstene Adkins, $1,000

She was among four entrepreneurial caterers offering free desserts during last night's Bluffton Center for Entreprenenurs awards ceremony. Also providing desserts (open photos below) were The Dough Hook with cookies, Heather Theis of Hearth and Bench with cinnamon rolls, and Devine Intervention with an assortment of desserts.

An information meeting for persons interested in forming a Bluffton Rotary Club takes place tonight (Wednesday, March 22) at Marbeck Center.

According to Bill Aubry of Upper Sandusk Rotary, the meeting is open to the public at 5:30 p.m. in the Kreider Room of Marbeck Center on the Bluffton University campus.

$84,133 bus seats 84 persons

Bluffton school board voted to purchase a new school bus from Cardinal Bus Sales on Monday night. The bus will be a 2017 or newer, 84-passenger bus, at a cost of $84,133. Bus specs are in the board attachment.

In other action several contracts were issues including spring coaching supplemental contracts.

The board’s agenda is attached.

Bluffton High School and middle school spring sports schedules are now on the Icon. In addition, all the home games will be posted on the sports calendar.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) joined MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning to discuss congressional efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare. During the interview, Rep. Jordan reiterated his opposition to the American Health Care Act in its current form.
