Concerning the handling of three village projects

Bluffton council had several questions for Jack Huber, village administrator, on Monday night.

The questions concerned the administrator’s handling, or mishandling, of three village projects:

• Absence of financial details in the council packet detailing the next village payroll

• Village Internet server

• West Elm Street waterline project

The conversation became a Village Administrator 101 lecture as Roger Warren, Joe Sehlhorst and Phil Talavinia quizzed the administrator on his handling of the three items.

Bluffton Boys and Girls/Bluffton Cloverbuds 4-H Club completed a successful year.

Following are county fair awards:

Brooklynn Bible, club president, A ribbon for Sew Fun and Fun with Clothes; 2nd place, Fun with Clothes

Village pays for training at Apollo Career Center

Bluffton EMS is currently accepting applications to join our volunteer department. Applicants should reside inside or within 1 mile of the Village of Bluffton. If you already hold an EMT certification or are interested in completing a paid, EMT course at Apollo please give us a call.

Middle school accepting Hurrican Harvey relief items this week

Bluffton Middle School students, teachers and staff are actively involved in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, according to Kyle Leatherman, middle school principal.

The middle school has organized a "Bluffton for Babies," donation drive. It started today and continues through Friday, Sept. 19.

Middle school students nvite Icon viewers to donate any of the following items to the drive:
• Diapers
• Wipes
• Baby clothes
• Baby blankets
• Baby formula
• Baby bottles

Wearing new crimson football sweaters adopted by the high school that fall, the 1925 Bluffton High School football squad took a stance for the team photograph. The photo was taken in parking lot beside the 1911 gym (no longer standing).

After going scoreless, losing its first four games to Lima Central, Ada, Lima South and Forest, the team rallied to defeat Pandora, St. Marys and Oakwood to finish the season.

Jesse Steiner (standing left in the rear) was the faculty manager. Lewis Pearsall (standing right in the rear) was the coach.
