Bluffton police responded to 486 calls for service during August, according to Tyler Hochstetler, police sergeant. The August report follows:

A Hillville Road resident reported his juvenile daughter took his vehicle from the parking lot of a Garau Street business. The juvenile was taken to the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center on Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle charges. The case is pending in Allen County Juvenile Court.
News rules by the Ohio Medical, Dental and Nursing Boards go into effect this week for prescribers using opioids to treat acute pain. The provisions of the new rules are designed to address overprescribing of opioid medications to reduce possible abuse and diversion.
Gary Wetherill will present a program on Indian toys during the 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, Bluffton Senior Citizen Association dinner meeting, according to Tonya Meyer, Center director.
Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, Sept. 6, at $8 each. Mt. Cory Eastern Star will cater the meal. Basil Meyer is the program MC.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team finished the Sommer Center Spiketacular with two convincing wins on opening weekend. The Beavers combined a tremendous hitting performance with a sterling defensive effort to deliver a three-set sweep of the Wheaton Thunder (25-19, 29-27, 25-17).
