Bluffton Lions offers $500 scholarships for HS seniors

The Bluffton Lions Club, for their fourth year, is offering three $500 scholarships to 2016 graduating seniors in local schools. The scholarships will be paid directly to the school or college where the winning students will be enrolled. 

Applications for these scholarships may be obtained through the guidance counselors either in Bluffton, Pandora-Gilboa or Mt. Cory-Rawson school districts. Those completed applications received by April 15, 2016, will be considered.

Bluffton Public Library board announces 2016 meeting schedule

The Board of Trustees of Bluffton Public Library has announced its meeting schedule for 2016. Meetings will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the library's  Board Room at 145 S. Main St., Bluffton. No meetings will take place in July or December.

Board members are Elizabeth Hostetler, president; Bob Beer, vice president; Carrie Phillips, secretary; Amy Lehman-Mikesell, Robert Scott, Emily VonStein and Nancy Yeager. 

Board meetings are open to the public.

 

Jerry Crisenbery 1939-2016

Jerry W. Crisenbery, age 76, died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at 2:19 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.

He was born on Jan.18, 1939, in Van Wert County, Ohio to Lowell B. and Marjorie (Fronefield) Crisenbery who preceded him in death. He married Cheryl Combs and she survives in Ada, Ohio.

Jerry was a retired electrician having worked for Carey Electric and Tradesman International. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany.

Bluffton Family Recreation in cooperation with St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, announced this winter’s Keeping Active six-week program of free activities.

Bluffton school board will offer football coaching contract to Jeff Richards

Jeff Richards will be offered a contract as head varsity football coach at Bluffton High School during the Jan. 11 Bluffton school board meeting.
 
He is a 2004 Bluffton High School and 2008 Bluffton University graduate and played football for both the Pirates and Beavers. His father, Mike Richards, was a previous BHS football coach.
 
Richards currently teaches third grade at Bath Elementary. He is also head wrestling coach at Bath.
