Beavers fight off Anderson for 13-0 start to season

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University women used a 15-3 run midway through the fourth quarter to finally get some separation as the Beavers pulled away from Anderson for a 75-66 victory on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016. Bluffton stays perfect at 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson slipped to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in the HCAC.

Bluffton men drop 85-72 decision at Anderson

ANDESON, Ind. - The Anderson University men scored nine straight points to end the first period en route to an 85-72 win over the Beavers on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016. Bluffton fell to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Conference following its second straight setback, while Anderson improved to 6-7 on the season and 2-4 in the HCAC.

Zac Dysert, Ada HS and Miami star now playing for Buffalo Bills

He played against Bluffton High School on Harmon Field. Then he went to Miami (Ohio), and was eventually drafted by Denver.

He's Ada High School athlete Zac Dysert and he is playing football again.

In late December the Buffalo Bills of the American Football Conference signed Ada’s Zac Dysert to its practice squad.

Burrell appointed, Steiner nixed as Bluffton council acts to fill two vacancies

A vacancy exists on Bluffton council due to an unusual and somewhat complicated drama that unfolded at the Jan. 4 council meeting.
 
With two former council members sitting in the audience – Sean Burrell and David Steiner – because their seats expired on Dec. 31, the four-seated council members acted in the following fashion on the two council vacancies:
 
• By a 4-0 vote, council appointed Burrell to fill one vacancy.

Pamela M. Rolston Magill died Jan. 7, 2016 at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Watkins recognition

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Bill Watkins on Friday. Watkins retired from Blanchard Valley Heath Systems after a four decade career in health services, mostly with the Bluffton Hospital. For several years he was administrator of Bluffton Hospital.
