Kuzara and Leopold named top Senior Athletes

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University presented its top athletics awards April 14 to all-conference performers in football and softball.

Ryan Leopold of Ottawa, Ohio, accepted the A.C. Burcky Award as senior male athlete of the year, while Jessica Kuzara of Flat Rock, Mich., won the Kathryn E. Little Award as outstanding senior female athlete. Both student-athletes have double majors—Leopold in strength and conditioning and exercise science, and Kuzara in elementary education and special education.   

Senior Center to hold meeting on identity theft, financial victimization and elder abuse

The Bluffton Senior Citizens’ Center will hold an informational meeting covering the topics of identity theft, financial victimization and elder abuse on Thursday, April 23, at 2 p.m.  According to San Francisco-based Javelin Strategy and Research, two-thirds of 2014's identity theft victims had been notified data breach victims.

St. John's UCC beef and noodle dinner April 24

St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton, will hold a beef and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 24, at the church.

Dinner includes homegrown beef, noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, roll, homemade pies and beverages.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for sixth grade through college, $4 elementary, and free to pre-kindergartners.

Lima union Local 776 featured in UA Journal

Plumbers, Pipefitters & Service Technicians Local 776 is featured in the March 2015 issue of UA Journal, the union’s national magazine.

The article is titled, “The Value of the Tripartite Approach for Local 776 in Lima, Ohio” and it highlights the strong working relationship between Local 776, local industries and contractors.

Local 776 Business Manager Mike Knisley credits this tripartite approach for the union’s success.

ODA launches “Ag is cool” creative expressions contest

The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) announced it will begin accepting entries for the 2015 “Agriculture is Cool!” Creative Expressions contest. Ohio children enrolled in school or home schooled during the 2014-2015 academic year have until June 5, 2015, to capture their personal interpretation of why Ohio agriculture is cool for their chance to win prizes including tickets to the Ohio State Fair.
