Ice Creations from Napoleon will bring their familar artistic talents to Bluffton for the Saturday, Nov. 28, Blaze of Lights. The ice carving launches the Blaze with a 4 to 5 p.m. presentation on Main Street. Watch for more Blaze material on The Icon.

St. Rita’s Health Partners broke ground at noon on Monday at 604 W. North Ave., for what will become Mercy Health Ada Family Medicine.

The project, estimated at a cost of $1 million, will result in a family practice open to the needs of the Ada community. It is located between the Ada schools and the Van Crest of Ada nursing home, currently under construction. It is anticipated to be open in April 2016.

A Red Cross blood drive will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, from noon-6 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton. Parking is available and the church is handicapped accessible.

Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code “fmennbl” to schedule your blood donation appointment. On the day of the blood drive, be prepared to show a donor card, driver's license, or other form(s) of ID.

 

Join the congregations of Mount Cory, Pleasant View, and Rawson New Hope United Methodist Churches, on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. for a service of music and celebratiion.

The service will take place at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 300 Township Road 37, Bluffton, and will be led by the Rev. Ben Lowell and Pastor Mark Fuerstenau. 

Those in attendance are asked to bring items for the Mount Cory Food Pantry, such as personal hygiene items, laundry and dish soap.

Sarah Dhondt, a senior from Perrysburg, Ohio, is Bluffton University’s fourth recipient of a full scholarship to Bowling Green State University’s master of accountancy program.

Dhondt has earned the Beaver-Falcon MAcc Scholarship, a Bluffton-Bowling Green partnership that includes a full-tuition award plus a paid graduate assistantship for a Bluffton accounting graduate.

The Guidance Office at Bluffton High School is sponsoring a financial aid meeting for parents and students of juniors and seniors who plan to continue their education beyond high school.  

The meeting will be held at the high school library, Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. Chris Fowler, Financial Aid Director at Bluffton University, will be the presenter for the evening.  He will discuss financial aid and filing the FAFSA form.
