Did you ever wonder how Elbert Dubenion was recruited to play football at Bluffton College? Would you believe Leland Garmatter,  whose funeral was Aug. 24, was the reason?

For newcomers to the Icon, Dubenion was Bluffton College's greatest football player. After college he played for the Buffalo Bills.

This photo is a bit tricky. Something doesn't look quite right. That's because it is a reflection taken of Luke's Bar and Grill using the doorway of Reichenbach and Steiner, Webb Insurance and Diller law office. Everything appears backwards. The Masterpiece Sign Co., was installing a new Luke's sign when this was taken last week.

Members of the Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will visit New Leaf Garden Center, rural Ada, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Laurie Laird and Pam Hoffman will present  a program on gardening and cooking with herbs.

Bluffton Pirates girls' JVsoccer team posted a win versus Coldwater JV with a score of Bluffton 2 and Coldwater 1. The game was at Coldwater on Aug. 22.
