1965 PALM SUNDAY TORNADO
Bluffton area was declared a disaster area by the federal government. Unfortunately, the declaration was not accompanied by funds. Mutual Insurance companies were left bankrupt by the many claims. A small sum from the State of Ohio was far from enough to repair the wide-spread damage.
Bluffton University will look back at 100 years of May Day theatricals as part of its annual May Day weekend festivities, which also include the traditional May Day ceremony at a new time—1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Our focus is on the pussy willows just about ready to bloom. This bush, in front of Marbeck Center, offers a view of international flags representing nations of Bluffton's international students. Meanwhile, stay tuned to the blooming bush.
Hilty Preschool & Child Care will open their doors to direct sales consultants crafters on Saturday, April 18, for a “Mommy & Me Party.”
The event, now in its second year, takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 pm at Hilty Preschool & Child Care, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora. It is open to the public and will be for the entire family, with many vendors geared toward children.
Songs for Earth Day will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 6:30 p.m at the Bluffton Public Library. Join Wendy Chappell-Dick and friends for celebrations and laments about the Earth. Earth Day.. Chappell-Dick will perform traditional American songs that honor the natural world using dulcimer and guitar.
The Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series celebrates their five year anniversary with a concert by Joseph Helfrich on Thursday, April 23, from 7-9 p.m. Helfrich is a folk singer, multi-instrumentalist, and storyteller who has been performing in public for over 25 years. He has been a full-time musician since 1992, and specializes in vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin, recorders and the mountain dulcimer. His programs include a wide variety of musical styles as well as humor. Joseph has a large repertoire for children and adults and tailors the program to fit the occasion.
