David Greene signs his book "Midnight to Siberia" for Phil Sugden. Greene of NPR's Morning Edition, signed his book and talked about his experiences in Russia at Jeanne's Kitchen on Nov. 26. Over 90 persons attended. Greene is married to Jeanne and Peter Previte's daughter, Rose. CLICK FOR A VIDEO.

Our Thanksgiving dinner invitation list included favorite poets Lewis Carroll and Robert Frost. Neither accepted, but places were set.

Set, just in case of late arrivals.

Hoping for Mister Carroll’s presence, for days prior to Thanksgiving lines from “Oh, oysters come and walk with us… along the briny beach”…  chanted frequently around our cheery home.

It didn’t work.

It didn’t work, even though we ordered a fresh pint of the delicacy from The Dough Hook and informed our poet friend of the menu: Oyster Stew.

Bluffton University will present its 119th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken.

Dr. Mark J. Suderman, professor of music and director of choral activities at the university, will conduct the oratorio for the 13thtime at Bluffton, where he has taught since 2000. The 20-member orchestra includes faculty and community members, while students, faculty, staff and community members comprise the 66-voice chorus.
