Ruth Naylor and Wendy Chappell-Dick will perform three times together in Bluffton during December.

The performances combine Chappell-Dick's music and Naylor's poetry in text and song to create a dialogue that covers politics, doubt, and faith, all within the setting of the Christmas story.

Chappell-Dick recorded her album “Songs of Forests and Thorns” a few years ago, and Naylor recently published her anthology of "Christmas poems Straw and All."

The Bluffton/Pandora Swiss Community Historical Society Christmas open house, “Christmas at the Homestead” will be Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1-6 p.m. at the Schumacher Homestead. 

The public is invited to tour the decorated 1843 house while snacking on homemade treats and listening to songs of the season. 

BURGER & BREW FEATURES EVERY WEDNESDAY!

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. Bluffton, will be featuring a unique burger every Wednesday evening, paired with a craft selection from its craft beer offerings.

This Wednesday the feature is a Reuben Burger, with pastrami, sauerkraut, red onion and house Russian dressing. It is served with potato frites and house Remoulade for dipping. This burger will be paired with Fat Head Brewery's Head Hunter IPA.

Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services will be holding a Tree of Remembrance Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Bluffton Centre, 601 N. Main St.

The memorial service is for families and individuals who have lost a loved one this year or in years past.  The ornaments will be hung on the Christmas Tree and given to families at the end of the service.

The music students of Krysti’s Music Studio will be showcasing their talents in several upcoming Christmas concerts.

"The students have been practicing and are eager to share their music! Instruments included throughout the recitals will be piano, voice, guitar, strings, and woodwinds.," said Schey.

Performers for Saturday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m. at Good Samaritan in Arlington are: Andrew Behrendt, Gracie Breidenbach, Owen Kohli, Eli Lehman, Jacob Lehman, Madison Newcomer, Bekah Rehm, Jonah Rehm, Micah Rehm, and Ian Rex.

David Greene of National Public Radio will have a book signing and will speak about his journey into the heart of Russia from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Jeanne’s Kitchen, 112 Vine St., Bluffton.

Greene is host of NPR’s Morning Edition and former NPR foreign correspondent based in Moscow. He is also the son-in-law of Peter and Jeanne Previte.

Greene’s book “Midnight to Siberia,” was recently released and is on the New York Times best seller’s list. Copies of his book will be available for sale during the evening.
