Freshman Anna Hairston (Mansfield/Ontario) was recently named the Heartland Conference Female Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Queen City Invitational on Friday, Sept. 9.

Hairston, who is relatively new to the sport in only her second year, set the mark for the fastest 5k all-time at Bluffton University. She finished with a time of 19:37 in a very competitive women's field, good enough for 40th among 148 total runners at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati. She was the highest-placing non-scholarship athlete on the women's side.

After a slow first half that showed only one touchdown from Carey the fireworks were turned on in the second with six scores allowing the Pirates to take home the victory.

The only score of the first came a Zach Brodman four-yard run to put the game at 6-0.

Bluffton came out of half time throwing as Mitchell Ault got the Pirates on the board with a 54-yard pass to Levi Kistler.
