Bluffton High School announces its valedictorians and salutatorian of the class of 2013. The class will graduate in commencement exercises at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 25, in the BHS gymnasium.

The next American Red Cross blood drive in Bluffton is Thursday, June 13.

The drive is from noon until 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the Large Room, located at 160 N. Spring St.

Two area students were named to the Ohio Northern University dean's list.

Elvira A. Tatarkov, daughter of Andrey and Svetlana Tatarkov, 10970 Phillips Rd, Bluffton, is a junior majoring in biochemistry acs certified.

Lauren R. Hector, daughter of D. Keith and Rhonda Hector, 111 TR 20, Mount Cory, is a junior majoring in graphic design.

The deans’ list includes students who attain a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 grading system.

Bluffton senior Kyle Niermann (Napoloeon) was one of eight Heartland Conference baseball players to be recognized by D3Baseball.com following the 2013 season.

Niermann became Bluffton's first baseball player to earn D3Baseball.com All-Mideast Region honors. A First Team Heartland Conference selection for the past three seasons, Niermann was named Second Team All-Mideast Region by the ABCA as a junior.

Everything you wanted to know about  the Bluffton Public Library's summer program is now posted on The Icon.

This summer's theme, "Dig Into Reading," offers programs for youth through adults. The summer reading program, from early June to late July provides prize for readers. Registration begins on June. 4.

 

BFR Sports and Fitnesss announces two summer programs for youth with sign-up now underway, according to Carole Enneking, director.

Fun Fitness class 

An evening exercise option for youth is being introduced at BFR this June. Kelly Honse will lead Fun Fitness for youth who have completed kindergarten through grade 2. The weekly program will meet on Tuesdays in June from 6-7 p.m.
