Beginning Tuesday, May 8, the Apollo Career Center Floral Design/Interiors program will hold its annual bedding plant sale. The program will have its greenhouses full of annuals and perennials ready for planting.

The hours are 9 a.m. -2 p.m. The sale will continue until all plants are sold. There are great prices and a great selection. For more information, contact Joe Warnement, instructor, at 419.998.2934, or email at [email protected].

Ebenezer Mennonite Church will host a National Day of Prayer program on Thursday, May 3, at 7 p.m.

The program will include music, a color guard, church and community members leading in prayer for our country, state, community, military, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, media, business persons, educators, churches, youth, families, medical personnel, and the aged.

A musical finale of "God Bless America" will be sung by Kara Zink, Sarah Lehman and Amy McGough. The church is located two miles west of Bluffton on Columbus Grove Road.

Connie Kruse of Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St., Bluffton, reminds Icon viewers that Nurse's Week is now through May 5.

The Main Street flower shop has a variety flowers, arrangements and other items available for this special week.

Julian Harnish, Bluffton High School student, will perform a Mother's Day piano recital at Yoder Recital Hall at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 13.

He will play works by Bach, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy and Mozart. The recital is free and open to the public. Donations will be taken for the Bluffton Food Pantry.

As part of the on-going art gallery at the Mennonite Memorial Home, local artists Lois and Gary Wetherill have a variety of their work on display.

On the third floor at MMH, Lois has a sampling of her 'Penny Rugs' that she has created. Based on both traditional and contemporary designs, Lois' 'Penny Rugs' are completely hand-sewn using wool and wool felt.

I am the Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Duke University, an organization that provides about 300 courses per year in the humanities, sciences, and wellness to 1,600 members, most of whom are aged 50 and above. I also teach courses in Celtic culture and religion.
