The Wall Street Journal headline read: "Kodak Teeters on the Brink." Reading this, my mind did a long, fast reverse. It stopped somewhere in 1970, inside the Bowling Green State University journalism dark room.

There I heard Jim Gordon, our photo professor, tell our Photojournalism 201 class, "There will always be film." Professor Gordon wouldn't lie. He may have even suggested we buy Kodak stock, but I'm not certain about that.

It was a very busy year for Bluffton EMS. Jan Basinger, chief, provided The Icon with the 2011 annual run totals. Here's a summary of the year:

The department responded to 475 calls, transported 343 patients and had 143 no transport runs for a total of 489 runs for the year.

The busiest month was June with 60 calls. The majority of all calls - 376 - were medical related. The department responded to 51 fire calls. Ten of its calls resulted in a Life Flight run.

Julia Szabo of Bluffton, will perform with the Lima Symphony Orchestra in its Mozart by Candlelight concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima, and again at 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, at St. Mary's Church, Defiance.

Szabo will perform three vocal solos with the orchestra. These include:
* "Non piu di fiori" from La Clemenza di Tito, K. 621
* "Non so piu cosa son, cosa faccio" from Le Nozze di Figaro, K. 492
* "Non ho colpa" from Idomeneo

Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre, 222 N. Main St., Ada, will host a themed American Girl Doll tea party in February, according to Darcey Schneider, studio owner.

The event is from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Ada studio.

Dennis Warren

Dennis Warren, 53, of Gilboa, died at 10:12 p .m. Jan. 16, 2012, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay. He was born In Lima, Ohio, on Sept. 10, 1958, to the late Donald and Joyce (Ewing) Warren.

Robert E. Sielschott, CPA, of Sielschott, Walsh, Keifer & Regula, Inc., has announced the publication of a new blog titled "The Small Business Policy Blog."

Sielschott intends to draw on his exposure to the small business community through his professional practice, his chairmanship of the National Federation of Independent Business Association, Allen County Area Action Council, and his interaction with politicians, regulators and taxing authorities.
