The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., Bluffton, is planning its third annual "Cans for Cookies Drive," according to owners John and Sharon Calvelage.

Here's how it works: During the week of Tuesday, Nov. 15, to Saturday, Nov. 19, customers who bring in canned items get a cookie for each item donated.

"Bring in 12 items and get a dozen free cookies," says Sharon.

All donated food will be given to the Bluffton Food Pantry. The Dough Hook's hours are Tuesday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. It's phone number is 419-369-4264.

BB Investments and Beyond Budgeting will hold an Economic Briefing 2011 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall, according to Beth A. Boehr.

Robert Ostrander, president, Centerpoint Life Planning and Savings Without Sacrifice, is the presenter.

Following the briefing, for those interested in attending, there will be a reception with refreshments at Beyond Budgeting/BB Investments, 119 Vine St., Bluffton. That will include a question-answer session with Ostrander.

The Bluffton University Nutrition Association's annual spaghetti dinner to benefit the Lima-based Churches United Food Pantry (CUP) will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at First Mennonite Church, 101 Jackson St., Bluffton.

Rev. Dr. Matthew Zuehlke

Bluffton's community Thanksgiving service, planned by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association, will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Rev. Dr. Matthew Zuehlke, pastor of Bluffton Presbyterian Church, is the preacher.

An offering taken will assist the Bluffton Community Assistance Program's food pantry. In addition, non-perishable food items will be accepted.

Example of art to be auctioned

Bluffton banks - Citizens National, First National and Chase - are currently displaying art pieces that will be auctioned at the Saturday, Nov. 12, Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur art auction.

More than two dozen works by local artists will be auctions. Tickets for the auction dinner are $50 each. The event takes place at The Centre, 601 N. Main St.
