Bluffton Lions Club Foundation crucial to success of pathway

Bluffton girl scouts start taking orders for those famous cookies on Friday!

It's time to order your girl scout cookies. According to Kathy Bishop, service unit manager of the Bluffton girl scouts, nearly 80 Bluffton girl scouts, ages 5 to 16, are ready to take cookie orders.

The girls spent a couple hours after school on Jan. 20, honing their sales skills, making posters, thank you notes in advance and coming up with words to describe this year's cookies to potential customers. The scouts meet at the First United Methodist Church.

Lucile Sylvia Holcomb 1918-2011

Lucile Sylvia Holcomb, 92, of Wadsworth, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Dalton, Ohio to Amos and Minnie (Santmeyer) Tschantz.

Mrs. Holcomb was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, retired from the West Unity school district, and the Wadsworth City School district.

Yoder ties school mark with six treys in 90-83 win over Jackets

The Bluffton University women's basketball team went off for 52 points in the second half to defeat arch-rival Defiance College on Wednesday, January 19, in Founders Hall. The Beavers improved to 7-9 this season with a 4-5 mark in the HCAC following their third win in four games. The Yellow Jackets dipped to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in the conference.

Hill's jumper with 0.8 seconds seals 57-55 win for Beavers

The Bluffton University men's basketball team defeated the Defiance College Yellow Jackets in HCAC action when Mychal Hill (London/Jon. Alder) chased down his own miss at the end of the shot clock and sank a fade-away from the wing with 0.8 left to pick up a 57-55 win over Defiance on Wednesday, January 19, at the Weaner Center. The Beavers are 5-4 in the HCAC and 12-4 overall, while Defiance fell to 5-4 in the HCAC and 10-6 overall.
