BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys tennis team edged visiting Elida 3-2 on Wednesday evening, April 8.

The Pirates improved to 3-1 with the win, while Elida fell to 1-3 after the defeat.  

Bluffton senior Grady Coonfare lost a tough three-setter at first singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Senior Isaiah Kohli cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at second singles.

Sophomore Toby Yarnell won easily at third singles by a 6-1, 6-0 count.

Simon & Garfunkel released their single Homeward Bound on January 19, 1966 and it peaked at number 5 on the U.S. charts in March. The song was written by Paul Simon while he was touring in the United Kingdom. He was waiting for a train at the Widnes railway station when he was working on the song. The railway station has a plaque commemorating this accomplishment. Simon & Garfunkel were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. 

Over 40 cast and crew members in the Bluffton High School production of Dare to Dream, Jr. will present performances on April 10-11-12. The musical revue includes tunes from over 100 years of Disney magic. Learn more about the production HERE. Tickets are on sale in the Bluffton Middle School office and at the door: Friday - 7:00 p.m., Saturday - 7:00 p.m., and Sunday - 2:00 p.m.

Ada area resident Marie Gossman can add “author” to her resume–in addition to florist and farmer. Her story of surviving toxic shock syndrome is called Calls for Life Flight: A Story of Loss, Life, and the God Who Stayed.

Gossman has been interested in publishing this account for some 20 years, following her near-death experience. Doctors told her she had a 5% chance of survival from the bacterial infection.

A Bluffton man has been sentenced to five years of community control in the domestic violence case State of Ohio vs. Kyle A. Moser. The Lima News reported on the April 7 sentencing in the Allen County Common Pleas Court of Judge Terri Kohlrieser.
