The Official Icon Sugar Cookie now out of the oven
The Official Icon Sugar Cookie
(And we even omitted 1 cup of sugar from the original recipe)
Suddenly the cookie urge struck. The urge said: "Simple cookie any old dolt can create and make it quick." This is how the Official Icon Sugar Cookie was born. Heck, we probably shouldn't fit in it the sugar cookie ranks. It has more flour than sugar. Maybe it should be the Offical White Flour Cookie.
Here goes:
1/2 cup butter (this means one stick)
1/2 cup oil
1 cup sugar (nope, you don't need more than that; probably could go with even less!)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 egg yokes
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cup white flour
• Mix the butter, oil, eggs and vanilla. Try for 30 seconds on medium speed.
• Mix the dry ingredients
• Pour the two together and mix for another minute
• Roll the batter into 1-inch balls (smaller than a golf ball)
• Place balls on oil-sprayed cookie tray (we used three sheets)
• Keep the balls them about 2 inches apart
• Bake for 15 minutes
• Turn oven to 350
The trick is to figure out if they are done in 15 minutes. They have a tendency to look not quite done. If you wait too long they burn.
Remove from oven, let cool and attact when ready.
This method created 30 cookies. Of course, some were small and other large. Within 30 minutes of mixing the ingredients you may down the cookies.
Coffee or milk is recommended.
