Golden and Lawniczak CBN Players to Watch
January 5, 2018
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper recently recognized a pair of Bluffton athletes on its prestigious Division III Players to Watch list for the 2018 season. Senior Ryan Golden (Findlay) and sophomore Chase Lawniczak (Toledo/Whitmer) were both honored in the January 5 issue of CBN!
Head Coach James Grandey had this to say about Golden. “Ryan has the ability to be the key to our lineup. When his swing is right, he can provide much needed speed and power from the left side. He has worked tremendously hard over his four years here to put himself in the position to have a fantastic senior year.” Golden started 28 games for the Beavers as a junior, hitting .269 with seven extra base hits and 17 RBI.
"We anticipate that Chase will transition from 3B to SS in 2018. He is an outstanding defensive infielder and we expect him to be the leader up the middle for us.” added Coach Grandey. Lawniczak was a mainstay at the hot corner in 2017, scoring 15 runs and drawing 12 free passes as a freshman.
Bluffton opens at Chillicothe against Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, Feb. 28, before a nine-game slate at Fort Myers and Port Charlotte, Fl. from March 4-10.
