Rally for impeachment held Tuesday
Members of the public are invited to a rally to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Allen and Hardin for Election Action & Democracy (AHEAD) will hold a rally at the gazebo in the Lima Town Square at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
The rally will call on lawmakers to defend the Constitution.
Mr Trump faces two charges:
● abusing his presidential power by asking Ukraine to investigate his 2020 rival Joe Biden while holding military aid as leverage
● obstructing Congress by blocking the House’s efforts to probe his actions.
“Extensive evidence shows that these charges are valid. President Trump’s actions imperil our democracy, and he must face the legal consequences,” said Beth Sutton-Ramspeck, AHEAD member.
The rally is part of a national day of action in coalition with MoveOn, Public Citizen, and People for the American Way. It is being held on the eve of President Trump's impeachment vote in the United States House of Representatives.
“We’re joining with people around the country to say that we believe in the rule of law,” said AHEAD member Maya Fischhoff. “This is not a partisan issue; it’s about upholding the Constitution.”
