Winter instrumental concert with theme of hope and joy
Bluffton University’s Winter Instrumental Concert will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Yoder Recital Hall.
The concert, under the direction of Dr. Roy Couch, director of bands, will kick off the 2024 music department concert schedule with a program of wind band music featuring selections that signify hope and joy, such as, “Message of Light,” and, “No Greater Joy.”
“They Shall Run and Hide,” a piece inspired by a visit to the Underground Railroad Museum, acknowledges Black History Month. “Pieces of Glass,” is an homage to minimalist composer Philip Glass. “Fantasy on Childhood Songs,” is a fun medley of familiar tunes from our childhood.
This event is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships.
Arts at Bluffton events are made possible due to generous support from donors including David Bertsche ’57, James ’83 and Rhonda (Louis ’84) Fox, Lowell ’62 and Martha (Badertscher ’62) Hostetler and the Krehbiel-Raid-Pankratz Endowment.
