The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will hold its traditional chicken barbecue on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31. Serving will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Citizens National Bank parking lot on Main Street. Tickets are $7 each and dinners include one-half chicken, baked potato and green beans and roll. The barbecue will be from Harlan's of Pandora. Tickets are on sale now from legion members.
Beth Boehr, of Beyond Budgeting, will be the keynote speaker for SPA Day 2010, to be held in the Patio Room at Maple Crest, Saturday, May 15, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Boehr will discuss ways to shop smart, plan ahead and accumulate wealth. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to have manicures, pedicures, facials, massages and make-up makeovers courtesy of local professionals from the area.
"Mennonite Memorial Home is fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers. Each summer we welcome teenagers, age 15 and older, to share their time, talent and enthusiasm with our residents and staff in the MMH Volunteen program, said Mary Ann Ring, MMH director of volunteeer services.
The MMH Volunteen program encourages local teens to serve their community and have a meaningful experience in a nursing home setting.
Bluffton basketball is promoting a shooting campaign this spring and summer for any boy from grades 3-12. The goal is to make 150,000 shots as a program.
