Obituaries

Linda Hilty, 71, died June 28, 2020. She was born Sept. 8, 1948, in Bluffton, to the late Carol and Helen (Pratt) Hughes.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Hilty Sr.; a brother, Gary (Jackie) Hughes and a sister, Barbara Jennings, both of Findlay; stepsons, Thomas Hilty Jr., of Ottawa, Tony Hilty of Findlay, Toby Hilty of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stepdaughter, Tara Calvello of Cleveland; 5 nieces and 2 nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Dwight (Renee) Hughes.

His career was in the service to the wider United Church of Christ

Former pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Ralph Quellhorst, 82, died June 23, 2020.

He was born in New Bremen, Ohio in 1937. Ralph is the son of the late Clarence and Aurelia Quellhorst. He graduated from Heidelberg University in 1959 with B.A degree in Speech, a B. Div. from Eden Theological Seminary in 1962, M. Div. from Eden Theological Seminary in 1974, and D. Min. in 1976 from Eden Theological Seminary. Rev. Dr. Quellhorst was a retired minister in the United Church of Christ. 

Lifelong Bluffton resident, retired from Lima Ford plant

Larry L. Mathewson, 88, died June 21, 2020, at Brookdale Senior Living in Bowling Green, Ohio.  Larry was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Ada to the late Dana and Treva (Lewis) Mathewson.  On June 30, 1951 he married Imajean Klass who preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2010. 

Jackie "Jack" Wayne Laeufer, 87, died June 19, 2020, at his residence.  Jack was born May 30, 1933, in Lima, Ohio to the late Russell and Inez (Skinner) Laeufer. On Sept. 19, 1956, he married Wilma Anderson and she survives.  

Nancy K. Glick, 78, of Arlington, died 10:29 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Willow Ridge in Bluffton after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer.

She was born in Findlay, Ohio, on Dec. 22, 1941, to the late Eugene and LaVonda (Hilty) Zuber. Nancy married Gerald W. Glick on Dec. 26, 1964, and he survives.

Also surviving are her sons: Dean (Lisa) Glick of Arlington and Pastor David (Mary) Glick of Bluffton; daughter: Terri (Charles) Bogar of Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Was a 4-H leader and summer softball coach

Carrie J. Miller, 88, died on June 18, 2020, at her residence.  Carrie was born May 9, 1932 in Pandora, Ohio, to the late Ernest and Lona (Welty) Bauman.  On June 3, 1950, she married John Miller who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2018. 

Carrie graduated from Pandora High School and was a homemaker.  She had also worked at Ingalls Restaurant, Reichenbach Lumber, Nickerson Farms, and owned and operated Carrie's Country Corner and Miller's Ice Cream.
