Pirate track and field will compete at the May 29 D2 Regional Meet at Lexington High School, Lexington, Ohio.

Field Events start at 4 p.m. and running events at 5:30 p.m. They will also compete on Saturday, May 31 with field events start at 11 a.m. and running events start at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ohsaa.org/

Tickets are #5 for students (K-12) and $11 for adults. Cash tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate.

MAY 27 MEDIA RELEASE__On Friday May 30, the Bluffton Shuffleboard Club will host the Steve and Cindy Slaughterback Memorial Shuffleboard Tournament. This is a state tournament with players coming from all over Ohio and Indiana.

In preparation for this tournament and this year's club play, the Village of Bluffton and the members of the club resurfaced the courts at the park by Buckeye Lake.

DEFIANCE – The Bluffton High School track and field teams competed well at the Div. II northwest district meet May 21 and 23 in Defiance.

The Pirate boys took second, while the Bluffton girls came in third at the 16-team meet.

Ottawa-Glandorf edged the Bluffton males 98 points to 92 to claim the district crown. Liberty-Benton came in a close third with 89 points.

Bluffton High School sophomores Nathan Speicher and Blayne Hill earned second team All-Northwest Conference honors in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Speicher batted .339 with 12 runs batted in and eight doubles. He scored a team-high 23 runs. He also drew a team-best 22 walks to post a .528 on-base pct.

Hill hit .344 with nine RBI, five doubles and one triple.

Pirate senior Landen Worcester was named honorable mention All-NWC. He batted .309 with 20 RBI, six doubles and two triples.

FINDLAY - The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team lost 10-0 at powerhouse Liberty-Benton in Div. V northwest 2 sectional final action Saturday, May 24.

The fourth-seeded Eagles clinched the win in the bottom of the sixth inning by inducing the 10-run mercy rule.

The fifth seed Pirates ended their season 12-13 after the defeat. 

The Blanchard Valley Conference champion Eagles improved to 20-4 with the win.

The BHS Pirate baseball team will take on Liberty-Benton in the D2 Sectional Tournament at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 24 at Liberty Benton.
